Before you enroll

Texas cosmetology licenses require set hours of training at a TDLR-licensed school: 1,000 hours for a cosmetology operator, 750 for an esthetician and 600 for a manicurist under TDLR's current rules. Ask the school which programs it runs, the total cost, the schedule, and whether it participates in federal student aid. See our Texas license guide.

Before you enroll: confirm this license with the state, get the total cost and refund policy in writing, and ask for first-time pass rates on the state written exam. In Texas you can cancel for a full refund by midnight of the third business day after signing.
